I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to discuss a matter of national importance, namely, the Department of Transport's value for money report on regional airports which issued yesterday. The Minister for Transport, Deputy Dempsey, immediately acted on the report by announcing cutbacks to public service obligation routes to Ireland West Airport Knock, Sligo Airport and Galway Airport. The report also recommended investment in regional airports, particularly Ireland West Airport Knock, but the Minister has ignored that section and is instead using the report as a blunt instrument to cut without consultation or balance.
