In accordance with the terms of Standing Order 32, I seek the adjournment of the Dáil to discuss the following specific and important matter of public interest requiring urgent attention, namely, the lack of communication in relation to the hours and remuneration of home help providers in the Inchicore-Ballyfermot area and the impact this is having both on providers and clients of the service. A number of weeks ago, the service providers were told by letter that "due to cuts in funding imposed by the HSE we are forced to implement drastic cuts in the home help service with effect from 6 April 2010". There is an urgent need for the Minister for Health and Children to clarify the situation regarding the funding that will be available and the hours that will be provided to the clients who depend on this service.
