Requests to move Adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32
3:00 pm
Aengus Ó Snodaigh (Dublin South Central, Sinn Fein)
Ba mhaith liom an Dáil a chur ar athló chun an cheist rí-thábhachtach seo a phlé, the need to curb the activities of so called head shops which facilitate the sale of legal highs. These establishments exploit loopholes in current anti-drugs legislation to openly sell psychoactive and cannabinoid substances. Evidence is available that the types of drugs sold in these establishments have had a detrimental effect on the health and well-being of those who have used them, including many school children who have had severe psychological reaction to these drugs. It is therefore important that we come up with some way to outlaw, limit or otherwise curb the activity of this type of business.
