I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to discuss a matter of national importance and concern; namely, the horrific murder of Finbar Dennehy from Clontarf and the disgraceful way this was treated by sections of our media, which totally misrepresented the facts of the case; the need for the Dáil to acknowledge the report of the State pathologist, which confirms that (a) there were no specific findings either on examination of the scene of death or at subsequent post mortem examination to indicate a sexual motive behind the murder, (b) there was no indication Mr. Dennehy contributed in any way to his own death, and (c) there were no specific features to indicate sexual depravity or perversion; the need to demand that all sections of the media respect all victims of murder; and the need for an expression of sympathy and support from all Members of the Dáil for the family of the late Mr. Dennehy and our wish to end this grave injustice to Mr. Dennehy and his family.
