Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 32
4:00 pm
James Bannon (Longford-Westmeath, Fine Gael)
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national importance, the threatened national bus strike from next Monday, which has arisen as a direct result of the lack of Government joined-up thinking on public transport, which leaves commuters, the elderly and children, particularly in rural areas, isolated and without access to towns and villages, with depots such as Athlone closing with resulting hardship for drivers and their families and which has failed to provide a service that will persuade people out of their cars, to the detriment of the environment.
