Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 32
4:00 pm
James Bannon (Longford-Westmeath, Fine Gael)
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the threat to public health and the environment caused by the failure of the Government to provide a central, secure storage facility for nuclear waste. Currently, unwanted materials are held at 80 diverse locations, mislaid or inadvertently dumped, with the Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland stating that such storage represented an accident waiting to happen.
