I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to address a matter of national importance requiring urgent consideration, namely, the need for any planned savings, revised budget or amended service plan to be referred by the Health Service Executive directly to the Dáil so that the elected representatives of the people can decide on how the moneys voted by them for public health services are allocated; and to ensure that all front-line services are protected from cutbacks and that there is an end to massive waste such as State subsidies for the private for-profit health sector and excessive payments to special advisers and PR consultants, including the €16,000 per month paid to a special adviser to HSE chief executive Professor Brendan Drumm.
