Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 32
11:00 am
Charles Flanagan (Laois-Offaly, Fine Gael)
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the escalating cycle of gangland style shootings and violence on the streets of Dublin city, as evidenced most recently by the indiscriminate discharge of firearms and use of handguns in three different city locations in broad daylight over the past 24 hours; the need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to ensure adequate resources are made available to the Garda Síochána to deal with this issue; and the need for a robust and decisive Government strategy to tackle gangland crime and lawlessness on our streets.
