Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 32
3:00 pm
Aengus Ó Snodaigh (Dublin South Central, Sinn Fein)
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the ongoing rise in gun deaths and gun threats, including two killings over the weekend, one of a man in his house in Newcastle, the other outside in the open in Clondalkin, and two incidents where the lives of customers and bar staff alike were threatened by gunmen, one in Limerick on Sunday evening, the other in Chapelizod in my own constituency today — thankfully, in both these incidents the men were disarmed with no shots fired; and the urgent need for the Government to expedite a robust process of civilianisation of as many administrative and other appropriate tasks as possible in order to free up fully trained gardaí to fight serious drug and gun crime.
