I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, that the House discuss the national implications of the unilateral decision of the Department of Agriculture and Food to suspend all payments under the REPS 2 and REPS 3 schemes to farmers until the end of the year in view of the importance of the environmental schemes for the protection of the countryside, the importance of the rural community's perception of the EU in the build up to the EU reform treaty referendum and the potentially serious hardship facing 55,000 farmers financially committed to this scheme.
