I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to debate a matter of national importance, namely, to discuss the clear Government commitment to implement the Hanly and Teamwork reports as is obvious by its proposal to take Monaghan General Hospital off call for medical and accident and emergency treatment at a precise date to be confirmed and the fact that it intends to close a further ten beds in Monaghan General Hospital when one additional ICU bed can be provided in either Cavan General Hospital or Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, together with a 20% to 25% reduction in other services at Cavan-Monaghan hospitals, plus a 25% reduction in the orthopaedic elective surgery from Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, which supports the Cavan-Monaghan region. It is clear that administration structures and finance come first, regardless of the effect on patients.
