Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 32
5:00 am
Seymour Crawford (Cavan-Monaghan, Fine Gael)
I seek leave to adjourn the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to discuss an issue of local and national importance, the winding down of services at Monaghan General Hospital; the closure of the female surgical ward which was reconstructed only in recent years with ultra-modern fittings and beds, and the removal of ear, nose and throat services introduced a few weeks before the last general election. Can any Minister stand over such dreadful waste of an ultra-modern theatre and bed accommodation while transporting patients 140 miles to private clinics in Galway to be treated by surgeons who used to be with us in Monaghan?
