Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31

11:00 am

Joe Sherlock (Cork East, Labour)

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to discuss a matter of national importance, namely, the need for the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to make a statement on the development of the Amgen plant at Carrigtwohill, County Cork, in light of this week's announcement that the roll-out of the plant is to be delayed by two years and the effect this may have. The recruitment of 1,000 staff by the US drug giant has been stalled. In view of the importance of the issue I hope this debate will be permitted.
