I request the Adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to discuss a matter requiring urgent attention, namely, the need for the Taoiseach to intervene with the Minister for Finance and the Minister of State at the Department of Finance to approve funding for the Clonmel flood alleviation scheme in view of the fact that Clonmel has been devastated by four major floods in the past ten years, that millions of euros of damage has been done to homes and businesses, that insurance cover cannot be obtained in flooded areas, that the completed proposal is currently with the Minister for Finance for approval and in view of the fact that the Minister of State has in this House promised that the scheme would commence in September 2006 and again in spring 2007, promises he has failed to keep.
