Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31

10:30 am

James Breen (Clare, Independent)

I request the Adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to discuss a matter of local and national importance, namely, the threatened closure of Seamount College, Kinvara, County Galway. I ask the Taoiseach and the Minister for Education and Science to intervene and prevent the closure of this college that provides an excellent standard of education for a large catchment area that includes Lisdoonvarna, Fanore, Ballyvaughan and New-Quay, County Clare. The projected growth in the area will not be accommodated in Gort Community College or Calasanctius College, Oranmore, where there is no spare capacity.
