Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31

Paudge Connolly (Cavan-Monaghan, Independent)

I propose the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to discuss a matter of urgent public and national concern, namely, the proposed sale by Coillte to commercial interests of 73 acres of Killykeen Forest Park in County Cavan at an asking guide price of €4.5 million; the need for the renewal and refurbishment of the existing 60 chalets, equestrian centre, shop and restaurant facilities at the park; the potential development of a marina at the park so that boats and cruisers can access the Shannon-Erne waterway; and the urgent requirement that a relatively small amount of money be invested so that this major amenity for visitors and tourists can be revitalised.
