Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31

10:30 am

Paudge Connolly (Cavan-Monaghan, Independent)

I wish to seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the failure of the Department of Health and Children to make provision for the repayment to patients in community psychiatric hostels of moneys illegally deducted from them by the State; the discrimination of the Department and the HSE in using semantics to re-categorise inpatient charges as rent and expenses to deny vulnerable psychiatric patients their just entitlement to reimbursement; and call on the Minister to take immediate steps to correct this appalling injustice.
