I wish to seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the severe impact of flooding over the past weekend in the town of Crossmolina, County Mayo; the widespread damage caused to both private and commercial properties; the financial losses sustained by business people in the town; the disruption to normal community and business life; and the need for the establishment of a relief fund to compensate those affected for the losses suffered, and the need to put in place remedial measures to ensure that such flooding does not recur in the future.
