Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31

Paudge Connolly (Cavan-Monaghan, Independent)

I seek the adjournment of Dáil Éireann under Standing Order 31 to discuss the following matter of urgent public and national concern, namely, the sharp contradiction between the admission at last week's meeting of the Joint Committee on Health and Children by Mr. John Saunders, an author of the Teamwork report, that the withdrawal of any hospital service prior to its replacement by a better alternative was neither common sense nor appropriate and the Health Service Executive's stated aim to use the Teamwork report as an excuse to remove life-saving services from Monaghan General Hospital in advance of having superior services in place and to inflict a similar fate on the north-east region's remaining hospitals before the process is rolled out nationally.
