Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31

4:00 pm

Paddy McHugh (Galway East, Independent)

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following matter of national importance, namely, the decision of the Mercy Order to close Seamount College, Kinvara, County Galway, the actions of the Mercy trustees in taking the decision to close the school in a totalitarian and undemocratic manner which allowed no consultation with board of management, principal, staff, parents or students, and the effect such a closure would have on the south Galway area, resulting in a total of 243 students being deprived of education in the school of their choice.
