I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter, namely, the proposed closure of the Seamount secondary school, Kinvara, County Galway, to impress upon the Minister for Education and Science the importance of the continuation of this successful school despite the decision by the Mercy Order to withdraw from second level education in the area, and to strongly urge the Minister to enter into meaningful discussions with the board of management, principal and staff of the college and the Mercy Order to put in place measures that will guarantee the intake of first year students at the college for the 2007-2008 school year.
