I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the need to stop the cutbacks in the home help services; the need to extend these services; the need to significantly increase the nursing home subvention payment; the need to provide additional public funds for the elderly and in this regard to provide funding to renovate St. Michael's ward, St. Patrick's Hospital, Cashel, thereby providing 30 additional beds for the elderly at a minimal cost of €1 million; and to ask the Minister for Health and Children to make a statement on the matter.
