Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

4:00 pm

Jerry Cowley (Mayo, Independent)

I seek the adjournment of Dáil Éireann under Standing Order 31 to discuss the following matter of urgent public and national concern, namely, why ten people, including a 93 year old woman, were on trolleys in the accident and emergency department of Mayo General Hospital yesterday, some of whom were going into their fourth night on trolleys, while 30 elderly care beds have been closed at the Sacred Heart Hospital, Castlebar; and why 15 elderly assessment beds have not been commissioned upstairs in Mayo General Hospital, which would greatly relieve the accident and emergency trolley chaos at the hospital.
