I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, to ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform in light of the emergence of new information to immediately ask the Garda national bureau of criminal investigation to conduct a new investigation into the Stardust disaster of 14 February 1981 which resulted in the tragic deaths of 48 young people; to establish a new commission of inquiry on the matter to finally determine the causes of the Stardust tragedy and to bring some measure of justice and closure for the long-suffering victims and their families as requested over a number of years by the Stardust victims' committee; and if he will take urgent action on the matter.
