I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the need for the Minister for Agriculture and Food to confirm whether beet growers and the Irish sugar industry will be liable for a €25 million restructuring levy in 2006 and to report on the outcome of her recent meeting with European Commissioner Mariann Fischer Boel. In view of the importance of this issue, I hope the Ceann Comhairle will agree to my request.
