Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.
11:00 am
Tom Hayes (Tipperary South, Fine Gael)
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the need for the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to indicate if he is aware that Sram Ireland Limited intends ceasing operation at its Carrick-on-Suir, County Tipperary plant with the result that 53 people will lose their jobs. This is a huge blow to a town which has already suffered many industrial closures in previous years. Will the Minister indicate what steps will be taken to secure employment in Carrick-on-Suir?
