I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to address the chronic lack of adequate Garda personnel in the area covered by Balbriggan station which currently is less than the Garda strength in 1988 before the massive increase in population in the area and before gardaí were increasingly drawn away from everyday policing duties by special posts of responsibility to deal with drug offences, murder investigations, community policing and escort duties for Oberstown and Trinity House education facilities near Lusk. All the talk by the Tánaiste of 2,000 extra gardaí rings very hollow for the people I represent.
