I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the decision of the Department of Education and Science to dismiss over 70 special needs assistants despite the shortfall of 175 such assistants throughout the State, the need for the Minister to reverse this decision and to re-allocate assistants where they are required and to publish her review of the proposed allocation system for special needs teachers.
