Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

10:30 am

Paudge Connolly (Cavan-Monaghan, Independent)

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the decision of the Department of Education and Science to dismiss 70 special needs assistants at the end of this year with no provision for redeployment, despite a National Council for Special Education review identifying a requirement for an additional 175 such posts; and to call for the establishment of a redeployment panel system similar to that already in place for the redeployment of surplus teachers.
