Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.
2:30 pm
Dan Boyle (Cork South Central, Green Party)
I seek the adjournment of the business of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to discuss a matter of urgent public importance, namely, the need for the Minister for Health and Children to account for the impact on services of the presented resignation of a consultant oncologist from Cork University Hospital, the frustration caused by the failure to develop a dedicated cancer unit at the hospital, the unacceptable delay in rolling out the BreastCheck screening programme to the southern region and the existence of statistics from the national cancer registry showing that cancer levels in the region are higher than the national average, all of which indicate a huge failure of the Government's policy and a need to provide resources to meet this vital need.
