Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

10:30 am

Paudge Connolly (Cavan-Monaghan, Independent)

I seek the adjournment of Dáil Éireann under Standing Order 31 to discuss the following matter of urgent local and national concern, namely, that in terms of expenditure on information technology on hospital services, Ireland's hospitals lag behind the rest of Europe, spending just 2% to 3% of their budgets on IT equipment, compared with over 5% in the majority of other European countries, and to call on the Government to provide additional funding to hospitals for IT and computer-based technology to enable them to function more effectively and provide better value for money.
