I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate a matter of national interest, namely, the increasing body of scientific evidence highlighting the need for urgent action to tackle the climate change crisis and the utter failure of the Government to address this issue or to plan the dramatic cuts in carbon emissions that would be needed for us to play our part in keeping global levels below the 400 parts per million concentration in the atmosphere, as was recommended in a report published last week which showed that going above such a level would trigger an irreversible climate change process.
