Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

3:00 pm

James Breen (Clare, Independent)

I request the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to discuss an item of local and national importance, namely, the proposed strike in Ennis national school next Thursday. In view of the atrocious conditions teachers and pupils must endure in this school, I call on the Minister to ensure that this strike will not take place and to act immediately to address the reasons for the strike. I attended a meeting in the school last night where parents expressed their deep dissatisfaction with the lack of action over several years by the Department of Education and Science which has culminated in the proposed strike. The Minister must act immediately.
