Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

3:00 pm

Jerry Cowley (Mayo, Independent)

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to discuss the following matter of major importance: the continuing failure of the Government to provide a dedicated helicopter emergency medical service, HEMS, for our people, at a capital cost of €12 million, despite the recommendation for such a service in the recently published HEMS study; and the continuing failure of Government to provide a helipad at Beamont Hospital, our national neurosurgical centre, while young and old people continue needlessly to die or be disabled for life due to the lack of this essential service.
