As agreed at the previous meeting, we took nominations. I will explain the set formula for going through the election of a Leas-Chathaoirleach. We run it on the basis of the person first nominated and then carry out a vote. Two nominations for the position were received. In order, they were for Deputies Martin Daly and Colm Burke. We will now consider the nominations in the order in which they were received. Is it agreed that Deputy Martin Daly be elected Leas-Chathaoirleach of the Joint Committee on Health? Not agreed.

To be helpful, other members are at a different committee at the moment. They are serving on two committees and cannot be here. Can an opportunity be given to them to come to the committee?

There is provision to call a vote on this. We can ring the bells to call members.

I congratulate the newly elected Leas-Chathaoirleach. I invite him to say a few words, if he wishes.

I very much thank everyone who voted for me. I also thank my competitor. He has huge experience in the medical area and I look forward to working with him. As I said at the previous meeting, I was on the health committee from 2011 to 2024. I certainly want to use that experience to help the Chairperson and all the other members of the committee. I look forward to working with all of them. I again thank them very much for their support.
