I have not received any apologies.

The first item on the agenda is the nomination for Leas-Chathaoirleach. We received three nominations and then that reduced to two. We will now proceed with a vote, in the order in which they were received. The first person nominated was Senator Evanne Ní Chuilinn and the second person nominated was Deputy Aengus Ó Snodaigh. I now invite any other nominations. I presume there are no more nominations and we will proceed to a vote. We will consider the nominations in the order they were received.

I put the question: "That Senator Evanne Ní Chuilinn be elected Leas-Chathaoirleach of the joint committee". Is that agreed?

There is a majority in favour. Do colleagues wish to call a vote? No.

On that basis, I declare Senator Evanne Ní Chuilinn elected as Leas-Chathaoirleach. I congratulate the newly-elected Leas-Chathaoirleach and look forward to working with her over the coming weeks, months and years. I thank everybody for their co-operation.

The next item is the briefing from departmental officials on the revised general scheme of the broadcasting (amendment) Bill and because of that we will go into private session.

The joint committee went into private session at 12.35 p.m and adjourned at 1.49 p.m. sine die.
