Joint Oireachtas Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation
Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Businesses: Discussion (Resumed)
Mr. Ciar?n Conlon:
I might come in very quickly. This is something the National Competitiveness and Productivity Council has been looking at. In its most recent competitiveness outlook report, from 2023, it cited an OECD employment outlook report from 2023. We have cited some of the findings or outcomes of that report. The report also states that social dialogue can help achieve a fair distribution of the productivity gains from AI adoption. It also states that consultation with workers leads to better outcomes in respect of AI and performance and working conditions. That goes right to the heart of what we are doing here today and what Microsoft is advocating for. It is a constant challenge and constant dynamic. It is something the NCPC is very interested in and that is something that needs to become embedded in this conversation.
