Circular Economy in the Food Sector: Discussion

I will confirm some of the data but I will first say that this is a win-win-win situation in the areas of cost, climate and nutrition. As the Deputy said, anything we can do around food waste is of benefit to nearly everybody in the process.
Approximately two thirds of the food waste that is generated by householders is placed in a general waste bin. In other words, approximately 17% or one fifth of the contents of a black bin could have gone into a brown bin to be recovered. In terms of non-household waste, 69% of the waste in commercial waste bins should have been placed in recycling or organic bins.
