The Department has not made any attempt to misrepresent the situation. The new Eurodac regulation will introduce a new Eurodac system. We would be required to opt into that regulation in order to access the system. It is a case that we can fingerprint individuals when they arrive in the State, but Eurodac allows us to match those fingerprints to any on its system, which will tell us than an individual either has or has not been in another member state before.
