Work was being done by ourselves with the Department of public expenditure, which has a lead in identification of projects, and with individual Departments to fine-tune the applications and make sure they are the ones that will have the most benefit and direct effect on the economy. This is an area in which we are conscious we need to make improvements. We have been reporting over the last number of years through our domestic departmental report on EU financial transactions in an effort to bring more clarity and light to this debate.
