With all due respect to the witnesses, I think it is unhelpful to conflate the issue of assisted dying with the issue of suicide. I have stated this from the very start. I do not think it is helpful to the debate. Are there any circumstances where the College of Psychiatrists of Ireland could see where somebody is coming to the end of their life, they have a terminal diagnosis, and they could in that situation avail of assisted dying? Is the College of Psychiatrists of Ireland saying there is a blanket ban?
