I thank the Deputies. As there are no other nominations, I declare Deputy Éamon Ó Cuív elected Leas-Chathaoirleach. Is that agreed? Agreed. I congratulate Deputy Ó Cuív and will invite him to say a few words when he arrives in the committee room. Would any other members like to comment? No. We have a very subdued committee this morning. I propose we suspend until Deputy Ó Cuív arrives in the committee room.

Sitting suspended at 10.14 a.m. and resumed at 10.16 a.m.

Deputy Éamon Ó Cuív took the Chair.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach:

I thank the Deputies and Senators for electing me Leas-Chathaoirleach. It is an honour and a huge responsibility. It is not too onerous a task as I will be working with the Cathaoirleach, Senator Eileen Flynn. As a committee, we have a huge job of work to do. This time we need to ensure our report is acted on. I look forward to working with the Cathaoirleach and committee members to see how we can progress matters through the remainder of this Dáil.

I propose we return to private session. Is that agreed? Agreed.

The joint committee went into private session at 10.17 a.m. and adjourned at 10.55 a.m. sine die.
