I thank Mr. Carberry for that. One of the issues that comes up quite a lot, particularly for councillors, is the installation of CCTV. As I understand it, this legislation would allow local authorities to install CCTV cameras. Illegal dumping is a huge issue in many areas near me in Galway. People drive to isolated locations, or to estates with long and winding roads into them, and dump huge amounts of waste. I have heard from many local authorities that the installation of CCTV cameras raises issues related to GDPR. I ask the witnesses to comment on the legalities around CCTV and GDPR. How can we ensure through these regulations that the installation of same is legally robust?
