On the occupied territories Bill, our clear understanding was that the Government had strong advice from the previous Attorney General that it was not in keeping with EU law and that the same advice was provided by the new Attorney General. The then Government had indicated that it was going to use a money message, which may not have been entirely relevant but that was the means it was going to use to not advance the Bill.

On the UN database, I understand that it was developed in Geneva at the UN Human Rights Council and there is a feeling that there may be some pressure not to proceed, not to fund it further and not to develop it. It needs to be updated on a regular basis. This is one area in which Ireland could be involved at EU level and at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva to ensure the database is defended, developed and updated.
