We know that, during the Covid period, particularly in the early stages, when the prevalence of Covid in nursing homes had a very tragic outcome in some instances, the issue of agency staff being used in private nursing homes in particular was again a factor. Many private nursing homes operators have told me that they had difficulty in that their staff were applying for HSE positions. Is there a problem with the negotiated rate paid by the NTPF? Does that encourage private nursing homes to pay their staff less? Will Mr. Reid comment?
