Special Committee on Covid-19 Response

Business of Special Committee

Dr. Ronan Glynn:

NPHET could sit today and make a recommendation for Dublin on Sunday week. It would, however, be premature and would likely be inaccurate and could lead to significant knock-on consequences in a week's time if we made the wrong recommendation. There is a balance to be struck between the timing of the recommendation and the application of a decision by Government. That is a matter for Government in terms of the timing. With regard to Dublin, NPHET was clear about the urgency of the need to recommend. I understand, particularly with regard to the hospitality sector, the effects that has in terms of stock that has been ordered and not used, etc. I am conscious of that.
