I do not agree with the point about the industry. I think the industry is moving away from crossbreds. Sexed semen will not solve the problem of the Jersey. They are still producing a calf that is of no benefit to the beef industry. We will have welfare issues. We need to remember that the modern consumer expects farming to be done in a sustainable manner. I believe the issues with crossbreeding have not been properly evaluated up to now. I believe the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation is in the process of putting a new EBI together. I think that will show the Jersey in a different economic environment. That is an argument for another time. I have made my point and will not labour it further.
