Revenue officials will be before the committee. It is a Revenue figure and we can ask it about it. At this stage we just want to have some of these figures put into the public domain as carbon tax is an issue. When people heard the debate in recent weeks on increasing carbon tax, I think they forgot the fact that we had been collecting over €400 million each year since 2010. That fact may have escaped them.

Vehicle registration tax, VRT, is based on emissions. Where does it come into the CSO's equation? Is the new emissions-based VRT that was introduced in 2008 seen as positive compared to the old vehicle rates system that was in place prior to 2008? The amount collected in VRT is very high. It is €900 million, or nearly €1 billion.
