I thank everyone for attending the committee and Senator Ruane for producing this legislation. The committee is interested in this issue because it produced a report last year in which it recognised the current legislation in this area is limited and fails to support the rehabilitation of more serious offenders. That is why we welcome the legislation performed by the Senator.

What does she think of the proposal put forward by Ms Fíona Ní Chinnéide that her legislation needs to be expanded? Ms Ní Chinnéide did not criticise the Senator but she believes it needs to be made less restrictive.
