I thank the representatives for appearing before the committee. It is good that we waited for two weeks before having this meeting because sometimes one needs the heat to be taken out of a situation in order that everybody can approach it in a fresh and balanced way. My understanding from what has been said is that Tusla is looking at current cases. Its role is to examine current safeguarding measures. As Mr. Gibson stated, it must learn from the past to ensure there are proper compliance measures in place. How many cases are in the books of Tusla?

When Scouting Ireland was before us on 21 November, I asked its representatives how many files had been sent to the DPP in the past ten years. The question was never answered so I am hoping our guests can shed some light on the matter. On what date in 2018 did the three cases referred to in the letter come to light?
